Multi-Hop Logistics (MHL) is a system by which ships provide transport for train-driven shipping.

• Train-carrying ships work static routes between places
• Trains have a specific route in their schedule across all of the layovers needed to complete a journey
• Trains are not linked to specific ships, they merely look for any ship working the next link.

The primary downside of the system is that it is very complex to develop.
